Dreams

I’m a New Blogger

As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Do one thing every day that scares you.”  Well, this is the one for today. This blog. Making myself and my thoughts public.

There are some folks who will tell you their life story in great detail – you know the people I mean. Some have even built a career sharing the most intimate details of their lives. But that is not me. So why do this? Why put myself out there?

Lynn in first gradeWell, for one thing I have always dreamed of being a writer. I was one of those kids in school who loved essay exams and the chance they provided to explain myself. I’ve written poetry, lyrics to songs whose music I compose in my head and children’s books, but none have really seen the light of day because I let that inner voice stop me. Today is the day to change that.

Don’t get me wrong – I dream big. And I believe those dreams could still happen for me. Well, except for being an internationally known super model. I think that ship sailed long ago. But I plan, in great detail, what I would do with power ball winnings, the custom beach house I will design for myself and the bed and breakfast I will own someday. I dream of seeing my photographs in galleries and my published books on shelves. And you have to admit, as dreams go, they are not that unattainable (okay, maybe winning the power ball is a bit of a long shot).

One of the fun things about dreams is sharing them with friends. And not just dreams. I’ll share photos, stories, recipes, and passions with you in this space. In the future I’ll explain how the conversation about opening a bed and breakfast just might launch a cottage industry. So if like me, you dream big, or just want to share some “girl time” I hope you will return so we can enjoy this journey together.

In closing, I’ll leave you with the three words Carrie Bradshaw would tell us to eliminate from our vocabulary:

“woulda, coulda, shoulda.”
